It went down in the City of Lights last August 2023 when the Great Amazons of Alaigbo and members of Igbo Women Movement Worldwide (IWMW) convened in Paris for the Patron's Exclusive Gala Fundraiser Event. In the heart of Paris, a gathering of strength, resilience, and purpose unfolded as the IWMW Patron’s Exclusive Fundraiser Event took centre stage in a weekend-long celebration. From a serene church service in the morning to an enchanting cruise dinner the night before, the event culminated in a grand affair, highlighting the investiture of esteemed Patrons and Matrons dedicated to the visions of our great organisation. More than just an evening of fundraising, this event became a celebration of the vibrant Igbo culture, unity, and the investiture adding a layer of prestige and promise, underscoring the commitment to empower Igbo women and communities
Friday Night Cruise Dinner:
The weekend commenced with a magical evening aboard a cruise along the Seine River, weaving through the heart of Paris. The night sparkled with city lights, creating a backdrop as enchanting as the cause itself. Against the rhythmic flow of the river, attendees revelled in unity and camaraderie. Traditional Igbo music and dance added a touch of home to the Parisian skyline, creating an atmosphere where culture and cosmopolitan elegance coalesced seamlessly.
The cruise dinner was not just a prelude to the main event but a testament to the diversity and strength of the Igbo community. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the shared commitment to empowerment resonated among attendees, setting the tone for the weekend ahead.
Saturday Morning Church Service:
With the spirit of unity lingering from the night before, Saturday morning dawned with a solemn yet joyous church service. Attendees gathered at the renowned Chappelle du Saint-Esprit in the centre of Paris, bridging the sacred with the cultural. The mass offered by Fr. Kenis Agusi served as a spiritual foundation, grounding the community in shared values and principles.
In a moment of reflection and prayer, the great Igbo Amazons of IWMW came together, reaffirming their commitment to empowerment, unity, and positive transformation. The church service not only set a spiritual tone for the weekend but also provided a moment for collective introspection, aligning hearts and minds with the noble cause at hand.
